Role Overview:
As a Solutions Engineer on our Professional Services Team, you'll spearhead the successful implementation of IT projects, consistently surpassing customer expectations. With a focus on server environments, you’ll be working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll develop project plans, offer technical guidance, and troubleshoot issues seamlessly. In tackling intricate technical challenges, you'll proactively address client IT issues within a team of energetic professionals. Your commitment to high-quality standards, customer service excellence, and adaptability to changing priorities makes you a crucial player in our collaborative and customer-focused team.
What You Will Do:
• Lead the implementation of customer projects with a focus on server configuration, management, and optimization, including knowledge gathering and executing the defined scope seamlessly.
• Create and manage concise project plans tailored to project size and complexity.
• Address networking tasks as needed to ensure robust connectivity and optimized network performance.
• Provide hands-on technical support throughout projects, addressing challenges promptly and optimizing solutions.
• Proactively identify and troubleshoot technical issues for swift resolution, maintaining project timelines.
• Tackle technical challenges with a proactive mindset, ensuring smooth project progress within a collaborative team.
• Uphold high-quality standards in project delivery, prioritizing customer service excellence and customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and workflow fluctuations for agile project management.
• Management of internal technical documentation related to server and network systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
• Travel on-site to support customers as needed.
• Provide guidance or functional direction for other team members, as required.
• Constantly focus on delighting all Uprise customers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
• 4+ years in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment, with a focus on servers and networking.
• Proven expertise in server, desktop, storage, networking, and advanced IT concepts and policies.
• Familiarity with remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms.
• Experience with Office 365 (management, migrations) and Active Directory (Azure AD, On-Prem AD).
• Strong network troubleshooting skills, including WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to prioritize based on issue criticality.
• Strong documentation skills for user-facing and internal use.
Technical Skills
Expert Level:
• Windows Desktop, Windows Server (2016+), server hardware (SAN, iDRAC, ILO, RAID).
• WAN/LAN networking, including routing, switching, security, and load balancing, and protocols (TCP/IP, VPN, IPSEC, VoIP, QoS).
• Virtualization platforms, storage solutions, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Remote Desktop Services.
• Entra (Azure), Conditional Access, DLP, Intune, DNS/DHCP, and documentation practices.
Competent Level:
• PowerShell, scripting, and automation.
• OSX troubleshooting, Android/iOS administration.
• VoIP systems.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong customer service orientation, with patience and empathy for resolving user issues.
• Self-starter with analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Solid decision-making skills based on issue priority, with a proactive and organized approach to problem-solving.
• Effective communicator, capable of explaining complex technical issues in simple terms.
• Mentorship abilities for junior staff and adaptability to changing priorities.
• Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, perform manual tasks like setting up equipment, and move around office or client sites.
• Comfort with extended computer work, with the visual acuity to handle detailed troubleshooting and configurations.
Nice to Have:
• Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, or security (e.g., CCNP, CISSP).
• Project coordination experience and familiarity with MSP tools (PSA, RMM, MDM, Net Monitoring).
• Skills in BASH, VBScript, and/or Python.
